Global Institute for Molecular Detection and Therapeutics

Rapid detection. Targeted control. Healthier ecosystems.

Mission

To reduce economic loss, antimicrobial resistance, and ecosystem disruption through rapid molecular detection and targeted control of animal pathogens.

The Global Institute for Molecular Detection and Therapeutics is a nonprofit research and education organization focused on reducing economic loss, antimicrobial resistance, and ecosystem disruption through rapid molecular detection and targeted control of animal pathogens.

Our work is focused on practical, science-driven tools for identifying animal pathogens earlier, understanding their risk, and supporting more precise responses before outbreaks cause serious damage.

We are building toward an integrated platform that connects molecular diagnostics, pathogen surveillance, antimicrobial resistance profiling, targeted intervention strategies, and environmental monitoring.

Why It Matters

Animal disease outbreaks can damage food systems, aquaculture, farms, companion animal health, wildlife, and surrounding ecosystems. Delayed detection often leads to broader spread, higher losses, and heavier reliance on antibiotics.

GIMDT is focused on earlier detection, better pathogen data, and more precise response tools.

Our Approach

GIMDT is building toward a practical research platform that connects:

Molecular pathogen detection

Virulence and antimicrobial resistance profiling

Pathogen surveillance

Targeted intervention strategies

Environmental and ecological monitoring

Early Research Priorities

Our early work is expected to focus on animal and aquatic pathogen systems where rapid detection and targeted control can reduce economic and environmental harm.

Initial areas of interest include:

Aquaculture disease monitoring

Bacterial pathogen detection

Antimicrobial resistance surveillance

Phage-based and other targeted control strategies

Field-ready diagnostic tools

Responsible research partnerships
